Ta Moko

Dieser Blog Eintrag ist auf englisch, weil Louia, meine Host-Mutter in Anaura Bay dies geschrieben hat. Sie ist eine Maori und ein Ta Moko ist ein Tattoo der Maori. Sie kann es viel besser ausdrücken, was es bedeutet, denn es hat eine tiefe Bedeutung. An dieser Stelle möchte ich Louia danken, da über sie die Fotos kamen (ich vergaß welche zu machen), Honey Lee, da sie mir erlaubt ihr Tattoo auf meinen Blog zu stellen und dem Künstler Tamatea Kopua (Wow, er ist Hammer!), der ein Copyright auf sein Werk hat, mir aber trotzdem erlaubt hat, dieses ganz besondere Tattoo zu zeigen. Danke!!

The Ta Moko is a copy of Honey Lee's geneology.

Starting from the head, this is representation of all of her forebares, ancestors, and the main rep being my father, her grandfather.

Then we move down the body and the first Koru is me, then her and then Juliet.

At the heel sits Her dad, Scrubbs who has the key position of holding everyone together.

The next Koru is her eldest brother, middle brother then the youngest brother.

As life progress's for her she will be able to add to her Ta Moko is she chooses too. If she has children she will add those and their father too.

So basically it is a record of her Whakapapa, (geneology).

In this new era it has become popular to carry your people with you, since we have become a global traveling nation in recent years. It lets other cultures know where we come from and its good for those who are away overseas to look to and remember home, and family.
